What’s Coming

Here’s what I’m planning to publish next on the blog. All dates are planned and may move. I’ll update this page whenever a new chapter goes live.

API Design and Integration: The Practical Handbook

A 12-chapter series on designing, securing and running APIs, with examples in ASP.NET Core. A new chapter is planned every Sunday. Start at the series landing page, or read it as an eBook in the in-site reader.

Next: Laravel in Production: The Practical Handbook

After the API Design Handbook wraps up, I’m planning a second book-style series, from January 2027. It covers building backend APIs with modern PHP and Laravel, from PHP 8.x features through to deployment and observability. It uses the same ShipCart example as the API Design Handbook, so you can read the two side by side. Exact dates will be added here once they’re set.

Part I: Foundations

  • Modern PHP 8.x for Backend Engineers
  • Laravel Architecture: The Container, Providers, and Facades
  • Routing, Controllers, and Form Requests

Part II: Data and the API Surface

  • Eloquent Done Right: Relationships, N+1, Scopes, and Transactions
  • API Resources and Versioned REST APIs
  • Authentication and Authorization with Sanctum (and When Passport Fits)

Part III: Runtime at Scale

  • Queues, Jobs, Events, and Horizon
  • Caching and Performance: Redis, Query Tuning, and Octane
  • Security for Laravel APIs

Part IV: Quality and Shipping

  • Testing Laravel APIs with Pest and PHPUnit
  • Deployment: Config, Migrations, and Zero-Downtime Releases
  • Observability: Logs, Metrics, Tracing, and Health Checks

Every week: a standalone technical post

Alongside the series, I’m planning a new standalone post every week on:

How to follow along

  • Read as an eBook: the in-site reader has chapter navigation and remembers where you stopped.
  • RSS: subscribe to https://pronabroy.com/feed/ in your feed reader.
  • This page: I update it whenever a chapter goes live, so check back for the latest plan.
